During pregnancy, it's very important to have a balanced diet.
Protein
- contain amino acids which are essential for the growth of baby's body cells
- meat, fish, seafood, dairy products such as milk, yoghurt, eggs ; soya products such as soya bean milk, beancurd
Calcium
- required for your baby's teeth and bones
- dairy foods, leafy vegetables, beans, nuts, ikan bilis
Iron
- important for red blood cell formation
- egg yolk, wholemeal bread, liver, kidney, spinach, red meat, chicken, fish
Vitamins
- important for body resistance against diseases
- fruits, vegetables, eggs, cereal
Folic Acid
- important for the supply of nucleic acids needed to divide cells of the embryo
- liver, kidney, wholegrain cereals, nuts, beans, spinach and carrots
Avoid foods that are possible sources of bacteria as they can harm unborn baby which includes salads including coleslaw, raw or under-cooked meat or chicken or eggs, raw seafood such as oyster, sashimi or uncooked sushi, cold pre-cooked foods.
